There are plenty of blogs commenting on the issues.

Secondly, IA4Future is really silly. With all due respect people need facts and this is not going to work.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3735034449493105270.post-37671104553778197162011-05-03T14:55:25.562-07:002011-05-03T14:55:25.562-07:00I don't understand. It was announced, in Nov 2010, a full-time representative, Jim Goodman was to organize VFX workers into IATSE. http://www.fxguide.com/quicktakes/iatse-formally-announces-visual-effects-organizing-drive/

In that same letter, it states the IATSE "has been working hard for OVER year with members of the VFX industry to establish the framework for a successful organizing campaign."

Then today you write this...

"As soon as we have the necessary information, like; how much is the prevailing wage rate at these companies? do they pay overtime? do they provide any benefits? and how much do those benefits cost, we'll sit down with them and work out the details of a fair contract."

"We'll fill in the blanks as we learn a little more about the cost of benefits currently being offered (and encourage our readers to share that information as they learn of it.)"

"We're here, (at vfx@iatse-intl.com), and we're ready when you are.""

This language sounds passive and non-committal, have you really not done any legwork to get this information? and PS,I think plenty of #VFX people have been "ready".

With all your hard work with the VFX industry members (as a committe for over a year) how is it that the first questions asked weren't "How much do these artists make? What kind of benefits/compensation do they receive now?".

Welcome to the Internet, there's this site called "Google", it can be really handy.
How long does it take to survey for wages? There's a whole site dedicated to it. http://www.vfxwages.com/

Welcome to the Internet, there this thing called email.
You have connections to Major studios and their in-house VFX/Post Execs, you can get a big picture. You have relationships inside and outside the V.E.S. that can provide you with real data, information.

Instead of writing a post that sounds like damage control or pushing the crowds back. Why not actually write some goals, set some deadlines, manage expectations, REALLY ask for help (Instead of this nonsense "As soon as we have...", "as we learn a little more...").

For the sake of my industry, I hope you stop dipping your toe and just jump in the deep end.

I'm not saying all VFX artists/crew should be in a union, but it's nice to have the choice.

Welcome to the Internet, you should try REALLY using it sometime, it can be really powerful.Albahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13959362433635588590noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3735034449493105270.post-85656947582076706842011-05-03T14:37:38.876-07:002011-05-03T14:37:38.876-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Albahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13959362433635588590noreply@blogger.com
